Ms. Garant celebrates the news with some of her 1st grade students

Arlene Garant, first grade teacher at Pope John Paul II, is celebrating 50 years of teaching, all in Catholic Schools! Through the school partnership with Exelon Corporation, Ms. Garant will be honored at a White Sox game where she will get to throw out the first pitch!

Ms. Garant is a huge White Sox fan and this will be a dream come true. She is very excited and hopes to meet Paul Konerko!

Thank you for 50 wonderful years Ms. Garant! And thank you to our friends at Exelon and the White Sox for making her dream come true.

On April 29th, 19 Pope John Paul II students received the sacrament of First Holy Communion. Mrs. Leszczewicz and her second grade class (along with a few older PJPII students) have been preparing for months for this special and holy event. Congratulations to all!

April 26th was our annual spelling bee. Grades 1 - 8 participated. We have some superstar spellers at PJPII! Congratulations to all the winners!

Pope John Paul II Catholic School has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Helen Brach Foundation. This grant focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) instruction. Teachers will begin to work on the school's STEM program over the summer and students will be involved in the 2012-2013 school year.

We are extremely grateful to the Brach Foundation for their support of PJPII!

We are currently the only Catholic School serving the Brighton Park and surrounding communities. PJPII prides itself on a nurturing environment where students are challenged to grow and develop as Catholics, learners, and individuals. We offer programs for children as young as 3 and 4 in our preschool classes until 8th grade. Our staff is comprised of experienced teachers who provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all of our learners. Our students leave Pope John Paul II Catholic School to go on to key area high schools and become successful members of society!
